Prof. Dr. Muhsin AKBABA / President

He was born in 1953 in the Maden district of Elazig. He finished primary school in Maden, secondary school in Elazig, high school in Ankara.

He entered Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 1970. He graduated from this faculty in July 1976. In the same year, he entered the Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Department of Public Health as an assistant. Since public health is in a state of establishment, he did his health center studies and his assistant theoretical training in Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine Department of Public Health. He specialized in Public Health in 1978. In 1979, he entered the Dermatology Department at the same faculty as an assistant. During his assistantship, he participated in the education and training activities of the Public Health department. Between 1980-1981, he worked as the Deputy Chief Physician at Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine Numune Hospital.

He became a dermatological and venereal diseases specialist in 1982. He performed his compulsory service at Giresun State Hospital between 1982-1984. In the same years, he served as Head of Syphilis and Leprosy Warfare.

He did his military service between April 1, 1984 and July 31, 1985 at Istanbul Haydarpaşa Military Hospital as a dermatologist. After completing his military service, he was appointed as an assistant professor to Çukurova University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Public Health. Between 1985 and 2004, he worked as the Group Head in Doğankent Health Education and Research Group, affiliated to the Department of Public Health.

He took the exam for associate professorship on November 2, 1987 and was successful. He was appointed as an associate professor on June 23, 1988. He became a professor on May 29, 1993, and has been the Head of the Department of Public Health since 1993. Her contributions to faculty and university administration, non-university institutions, post-graduate education and the projects she participated in are presented in the annex. In 1991, he studied at the University of Leeds Tropical Public Health and other Public Health schools for a month.

He is a member of Public Health Specialists Association, Turkish Hematology Association, Dermatology and Venereal Diseases Association, Ankara University Alumni Association, Turkish Parasitology Association, Turkish Dermatology Association.

His foreign language is English. He is married and has 2 children.
